Dinesh D. Kalyanpur

Born on October 28, 1934, Dinesh popularly known as DDK was pious in his outlook and hard working in nature. He had a longing for learning new ideas for the betterment of people around him. Studious by nature, even while in service he did Law, Homeopathy, Astrology and Accupressure Therapy and helped a large number of people.

Right from his prime youth days, he was actively associated with the activities of Kanara Saraswat Association and many other organisations like Talmakiwadi Co-operative Housing Society, Konkani Sahitya Samiti, Bombay Grant Road Sabha of Chitrapur Saraswats, Bhraman Mandal,etc.

He was also a very good sportsman and represented his college in Inter Collegiate Table Tennis Tourament.

After graduation he joined Bengal Immunity Co. Ltd. as a Medical representative and rose to the position of Sr. Marketing Officer.

He was instrumental in completing the Census of Chitrapur Saraswats in 1971 and bringing out detailed reports. The Kanara Saraswat Association is the only institution in India venturing to take community's census and bringing forth socio-economic picture of the community and also giving names, addresses, etc. He was also instrumental in organising Entrepreneurs meet, Sangeet Sammelans, starting of Health Centre and suggested various innovative ideas during his association with KSA. During his association with Kanara Saraswat Association, he was connected with the activities of KSA in various capacities as member of the Managing Committee handling different portfolios, as Hon. Secretary and as Chairman of the Managing Committee and also as Vice President of the Association. He also served as Editor of Kanara Saraswat magazine for some years.

He was a great devotee of Lord Dattatreya. On December 18, 1991, two days prior to Datta Jayanti he climbed Girnar mountain in Junagadh, Gujarat to have a darshan of Lord Dattatreyya's padukas. After performing Seva and reading the last chapter of Guru Charitya while descending he suffered a massive heart attack on the steps and succumbed to the stroke.

This site is dedicated to his loving memory and we wish to fulfill his dream of binding together the Chitrapur Saraswat community.
